Jonathan, Monkey and I moved to downtown Charleston on December 29, 2011.
In the past 2 years, a lot has happened and we have been very blessed. We moved states away from home, we made new friends, we have moved from renting to our own home, we went from having only Monkey in our home to having Monks AND Popcorn running about, we got new jobs, new vehicles, we started enjoying working and creating in our kitchen…. we have just done so much in Charleston.
But we have never had a Christmas there. Always back in Virginia….. Always at our parents homes or holiday rentals. Never at our own residence.
This year, in our new home, we were able to have Christmas.
Decorated the house right after Thanksgiving, and got a Real Tree! I haven’t had a real Christmas tree in at least 7 years. It was marvelous (although I still find pine needles hither and yon).
We had fires in our fireplace, and cooked Christmas Eve dinner…. in our very own home.
Additionally, my Mother and Father were able to come to Charleston for Christmas. This was a nice addition because it was good to show off our new place and share it with family for the holidays. And….We had GREAT food!
It really was a nice Christmas. Plenty to be grateful for as 2013 comes to a close.
